Meditative services
Meditation Group
A group that meets during Lent and participates in the “Exerzitien im Alltag” (Exercises in daily life) to prepare for Easter with daily exercises, practiced at home, and five weekly meetings to share both meditative silence and the experiences with the ecumenical texts (in German) - that are provided by Lutheran and Roman Catholic authors for this purpose.
Taizé Evening Prayer
Usually on the third Thursday of the month we meet at the chapel in our church house for a meditative Evening Prayer service with the contemplative music of Taizé, a monastery and pilgrim center in the South of France. Taizé music is repetitive, that means the easy melodies are not sung just once, but as long as the meditative character asks for. The music is easy to learn and no particular musical talent is needed to take part. The peaceful, repetitive chanting is to help us focus on the loving presence of God and to allow our hearts to become silent before God. Please join us for this special form of worship. Check the online calender for the next service.
Evensong
Evensong is a specialty in the Anglican Tradition. It is based on Evening Prayer from the Daily Office, but most parts are sung rather than spoken. We have a choir that leads us in the music and offers additional music. It usually lasts for about 45 min. It is a full worship service that includes scripture readings and usually a homily. We meet from October through July every third Wednesday of the month at the Old-Catholic Church St. Willibrord at Blumenstraße 36 (next to Sendlinger Tor Platz). After the service everybody is welcome to join us for the "Stammtisch" in a nearby restaurant.
